The House of Councilors is fully committed to supporting the dynamics of relations between Morocco and Germany to include various aspects of bilateral cooperation, affirmed its president Enaam Mayara on Tuesday in Rabat.

During a meeting held at the Chamber's headquarters with a German delegation led by the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the Maghreb States in the Bundestag, Carl-Julius Cronenberg, Mr. Mayara emphasized the importance of the political relations between the two friendly countries, noting that they have experienced positive dynamics in recent years.

After explaining the role of the Chamber and its place in the Moroccan constitutional structure, Mr. Mayara highlighted the Kingdom's strong presence in regional political groupings and regional and international economic blocs, as well as its involvement in initiatives aimed at achieving development, stability, and promoting common values of dialogue and understanding among peoples.

On the issue of the Kingdom's territorial integrity, the President of the House of Councilors welcomed Germany's position "in favor of the UN-led process of settlement and the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco in 2007 as a realistic and political basis for resolving this conflict that has lasted for more than four decades."

In this context, Mr. Mayara mentioned the security situation in the Sahelo-Saharan region, which "constitutes fertile ground for armed groups, networks of illegal immigration, and human trafficking," stressing that "the close relations between the +Polisario+ and these groups pose threats to the African continent as well as to Europe."

For his part, Mr. Cronenberg hailed the multifaceted partnership between the two countries, expressing his country's willingness to continue efforts to expand its scope and consolidate its achievements.

Morocco represents a "role model in the region in terms of political and institutional stability and a preferred economic partner regionally and internationally," said the German official, noting that the visit of the German parliamentary delegation to Morocco allowed them to "learn about the various projects launched by the Kingdom, particularly in the social field."

During this meeting, both parties agreed to continue coordination between the two legislative institutions, expressing their "satisfaction" with the quality of cooperation between the House of Councilors and the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation at the parliamentary level.
